Welcome Back

Hello! As you may or may not have been aware of, I have been volunteering in Kenya with Platform2 for 10 weeks. It was probably the greatest decision I ever made, as I had such an amazing experience. I saw alot and I learnt alot. So now I'm back and I want to be able to move on with any ideas I had, turn them into something creative. So whilst I've been back a few weeks now and confess to not really doing much, I want to get back into gear. I'm thinking collages and things like that with all the photographs I took. Anyway watch this space.

Platform2 (www.myplatform2.com) are funded by Christian Aid (www.christianaid.org.uk) BUNAC (www.bunac.org.uk) and DFID (www.dfid.gov.uk). Unfortunately though they're in their final year due to lack of government funding...which sucks. But they're great organisations so check them out further if you're interested.

How hard is it to design a business card?

Very, apparently. I went through several different versions, eventually ending up with something simple and fairly standard. Lots of questions ran through my mind, like 'do I want to come across as different by being funny?' or 'does this card make me look like I deal in heavy metal music?' and 'is this card really reflecting what I'm about?'

I think I may change it again sometime. Doesn't feel 'right' just yet. Stay tuned, I'll crack this one homie.

Supergraphics Exhibition

Some photos of the jigsaw I had made for my project. People were looking at it which is cool. It's always a nice thing when you see people checking out your work.

Leftovers...Collage

Some collages I did which fed into the motivational posters project. Mostly just fun stuff, cutting out from fashion/skateboard/anything else magazines and playing around with composition. I've got a bunch of these which I'll upload every so often. Gotta keep creating right!

This'll be the death of me...

You know the drill. Which 3 different themes work best? (both as they are and as a set of 3) Thanks yeh.

Courage - which elements work best?

Tutor said I should make the imagery MORE abstract. Simplify it. So which elements across the posters work best do you think? Bear in mind its going to be a series of 3 different posters (courage, freedom...happiness though I might have to reconsider the word)....you can see how the freedom idea developed in a previous blog post. I want a cookie.

'GO OUTSIDE' Jigsaw

Comedian project. This one visualises the Demetri Martin quote, "I wanna make a jigsaw puzzle that's 40,000 pieces. And when you finish it, it says 'GO OUTSIDE'. Obviously the one I did is nowhere near as many pieces (that would be crazy) but the process has been veerrrryyy looooonnng. I still haven't finished it completely. Probably won't, but final presentation won't need it to be anyway. Gotta do 2 more visualised jokes too.

Jigsaws are not friendly to backs. Unless you already have a hunchback, in which case they shouldn't be a problem.

Cuckoo Man

Losing your marbles project. Screen print screwed up (hence the thin annoying line through the image)..gonna redo this again.

Freedom - almost there me thinks...

I've got these for the moment. Trying to keep things fairly simple and consistent across the themes. Think I'm almost there though. woot!

Motivational Posters - Path 4

This is where I was a few days ago, but I've started work on the other themes as well. Decided to go for a more simplified/abstract approach. I'm going to have to stick to something real soon otherwise the production of these final pieces is going to drive me BONKERS!

Zappa Coke

Same project as the one below.

Decade Crunch Screen Prints

I did these in Year 2. Got a better camera now so I thought I'd make use of it and snap em. The images are a mash up of the 1900s and 1960s.
